INSTITUTIONAL PROGRAM TO INCENTIVIZE
SCIENTIFIC AND CULTURAL PRODUCTION
[ General principles ]
ABCiber's Program to Incentivize Scientific and Cultural Production is an institutional endeavor aimed at fostering bibliographic and artistic production in the interdisciplinary field of cyberculture studies, which, in a broad sense, is considered a category comprising the contemporary sociocultural configurations of digital technologies and networks (acc. Article 8, Clause 1 of the Statutes of the Association).
.
The Program comprises the ABCiber Collection of texts on cyberculture and the ABCiber Documenta of digital art (its provisional reference nomenclature). The two Collections are characterized in separate Projects:
Encompassing national and international texts and creations, the results of the two projects will be available for universal access at ABCiber's site, by decision of the Association's Scientific Deliberative Council during its 4th Ordinary Meeting held on May 21 and 22, 2009, at the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ).
.
Without ruling out necessary pointwise interventions in the Brazilian political and social process with respect to subjects pertinent to its field of interest, ABCiber prioritizes, through its Program to Incentivize Scientific and Cultural Production – implemented between its National Symposiums –, its intellectual mission of public clarification about the social, cultural, political and economic conditions of human life in contemporary technological civilization.
In line with Chapter II of ABCiber's Statute, this institutional focus falls upon what evidently consists of the principal legacy of an association of researchers: to contribute extensively to the country's scientific, cultural and technological development through the necessary sharing of knowledge produced in the international context.
